In memoriam Prof. Dr. Antonio Andréa Belló

Prof. Dr. Antonio Andréa Belló (1938 - 2001)

 

  • Born on February 4, 1938 in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil;

  • Graduated in Dentistry at Pontifical Catholic University-Rio Grande do Sul in 1960;

  • He practiced dentistry clinic in the city of Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul during the first years of his professional life;

  •  He married Marina Ribeiro in 1961 and had two sons, André Ricardo and Adriane;

  •  For reasons of professional achievement, he left the clinic and began his career as Senior Volunteer and then Instructor of Higher Education in the Experimental Physiology Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul;

  •  In 1967 he was invited to work at the Foundation University of Rio Grande (FURG), where he went through all academic levels to become Professor of Physiology  in 1973;

  • He stood out for his deep knowledge and skills in practical classes, and coordinated several winter courses in FURG  for physiology teachers across the country.

  • Became doctor in 1975 in Physiology field at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto - University of São Paulo, Brazil;

  • After, he settled in the Department of Physiology, UFRGS in 1986;

  • He initiated and maintained the current Laboratory of Cardiovascular Physiology, which works in the field of free radicals and cardiovascular system since 1984;

  • Professor Belló was responsible for the formation of 6 doctors and 13 master's students in physiology, and has guided many undergraduate students. His scientific production includes numerous works of national and international repercussion;

  • Model son, faithful and devoted husband, loving father, zealous and passionate grandfather, retired teacher, friend without reservation... These words define a little personality of this extraordinary figure who was Prof. Belló. His successful strategy has always shared the work and the natural leadership of the competence and solidarity. In addition to the many scientific and published works contributions, makes numerous disciples in the tasks of teaching and living.
